I. I have an abscessed tooth which is causing horrific pain. I have AMAZING pain tolerance anywhere EXCEPT my head. I'm living on a diet of pain and Motrin (I need to get some acetaminophen as a supplement)
II. So, at three am, as i'm sitting up, because I had to take a dose of antibiotics (for said abscessed tooth), with a raging case of heartburn, Im rereading the leaflet that came with my antibiotics and i read "If you experience this rare but serious side effect heartburn, contact your doctor immediately."
Um, oh shit. Well, I'm not getting my dentist out of bed at ass o'clock for fucking HEARTBURN, I dont care WHAT the paper says. I called the 24 hour pharmacy, to see if it could at least wait til morning (it could).
Apparently, the heartburn can cause esophagitis (inflammation of the esophagus), if it's too frequent.
I'm now on Zithromax (Z-pak).
III. Motrin is only supposed to be taken every 8 hours (the Rx strength). It wears off after about 7 (if it lasts that long), hence needing acetaminophen to supplement it. Although, I know someone who took it every FOUR hours, so I may end up taking it a bit more often (please, don't bother yelling at me or lecturing me, it won't work, and at this point, no I DON'T care if I end up in the ER from a Motrin OD, it hurts THAT FUCKING BAD Yes, I WILL call and see if there is an alternate pain killer that I can be given, but I'm not holding my breath at this point).
